As a social media consultant, I feel it’s my duty to spend time interacting with other companies online in order to see what they’re doing and how they’re doing it.
I see it as a way to gauge how many companies not only respect the value of social media, but also to see how many actually spend the time/money to do it right.
For instance, recently I had trouble with a Samsung DVD player and made a small...

As some of you might know, I’m currently going through a product launch, and as it’s my 3rd or 4th, I’ve started to pick up some of the tricks that are useful in creating buzz and hype before a launch.
Of course, there are the important things, like making sure the product is good and you have a lot of affiliates ready to help you, but there’s much more to it than that. And now, thanks...

Last week, we talked a bit about building email funnel, which is an important way to manage leads and convert them into buyers. However, that’s just a small piece of the social media marketing funnel.
Today, I want to share a video with you that discusses the bigger picture…as in the social media funnel. This funnel should be the the #1 driver of any social media campaign, and if you don’t...

Twitter used to be a wonderful place, where you could live without fences and leave your door unlocked when you left home.
Unfortunately though, just like everywhere else on the internet, the spammers, phishers, and hackers have found a way to ruin the fun for those of us that once enjoyed these benefits.
Now, should you forget to follow security protocols on Twitter, especially if you are just getting started,...

As a blogger and Twitter fanatic, I love the fact that I can sign up with IZEA and get paid to Tweet relevant and useful ads to my followers.
However, as much as I like making a few extra dollars, getting paid to Tweet is nothing compared to paying others to do so for me.
I’m talking about paying for ads from famous bloggers and other influential Twitter users, which is something that no one talks about,...

You’ve probably seen it. It’s that big green RT button with a number on top that allows people to RT a blog post and get the instant gratification of knowing that they helped that number go up.
It’s a great way to get people to share content online and feel like they are contributing to the community.
However, as I spend time throughout the blogosphere, I’ve noticed that many bloggers...

I’ve had a lot of people ask me lately about the benefits of unfollowing everyone on Twitter and starting over from scratch.
Part of the reason for this is because what was once an accepted standard practice, as in following everyone that followed you, has now led to a giant list of Twitter users that can be very difficult to manage.
If you have a lot of influence on Twitter, then I’ll tell you...

Social media consultants spend a lot of time talking about how to monitor your brand with Twitter.
In fact, I spend an entire module in my Twitter Rockstar course doing just that. However, what we don’t talk about often enough is how to spy on your competitors using the same tools.
There are several advantages to spying on your competitors, such as being able to see how they interact with their customers/clients....

We entrepreneurs don’t have a lot of time. Often, we’re a business of one, and we wear a lot of different hats. The last thing we need is another skill to learn, especially one that provides dubious results, at best.
In the case of social media, many entrepreneurs understand the need, but not the value.
You’ve been beaten over the head with the idea that you need a blog and a Twitter account,...

You know, every time I see a news anchor or TV personality talk about Twitter, I laugh. Not because they’re talking about Twitter, but because they are trying to be hip with a subject that they have zero clue about.
I love it because for the longest time, traditional media had a stranglehold on what was newsworthy and what wasn’t. If you didn’t go through the gatekeepers, you had no chance...
