By now you’re already tired of hearing about this Apple tablet and it hasn’t even launched yet. That’s how the hype machines work though, and there’s a marketing lesson in that.
Jobs and Apple used social media to stoke the fire while still keeping the details a secret. They leaked details and provided very clear instruction on how those details could be used. The way they did it was brilliant, but it’s nothing new.
But here’s how it changes the game:
The hype sucks, but it’s legit. Look past the hype and instead, look at the possibilities. This is new media at the cutting edge. This is just the start of where the industry is heading. You thought you were behind on blogs, but you better catch up fast. Soon, even a blog won’t be enough.
